Thank you Julius Baer for choosing me to be your family day emcee for you “Carnival On The Green” family day for their staff and families. All in all, I think about 500 – 600 people turned up to Angsana Green at East Coast Park.
Being a professional emcee, I was a little concerned that the weather might be a factor, as the meteorological service predicted rain, but we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day.
“GARDEN CITY SINGAPORE – THE LEGACY OF LEE KUAN YEW” Book
As Julius Baer are honoured and proud to be the presenting sponsors of “Garden City Singapore – The Legacy of Lew Kuan Yew” book, they wanted to tie in their family day with a green theme.
As the family day emcee I was very impressed with their programme they had lined up. Naturally. they had a tremendous amount of fun activities for the young and young at heart, including a caricaturist, airbrush tattoo artist, face painters, and a balloon sculpturist.
For the more thrill seeking guests, there was the giant dart throw, a penalty kick (for world cup enthusiasts) a wave surfer & even a water dunk tank. For the fun-loving, there were bouncy castles and slides.
However, after the opening welcoming speech by the CEO, Julius Baer had arranged with NParks for participants to be involved in a tree planting activity. As the family day emcee, it was my job to get everybody lined up and led off the the tree planting area. 32 Trees and 18 shrubs were on stand-by to make Singapore an even more greener, beautiful garden city with the help of Julius Baer staff & their families.
A Nature Trail had also been especially mapped out for the guest, where parents & children could discover many unique & interesting trivia about the flora & fauna of East Coast Park. As a family day emcee, I feel really happy when a family day involves everyone in an awareness of our history and how we became a “garden city”. Also it is heart- warming to see parents keen to teach their children to be ‘eco friendly’.
INSTAGRAM PHOTO ALBUM
Another exciting activity that was a first for me as a family day emcee on a family day, was the concept of an event instagram photo album. All the staff, mums and dads, boys and girls were encouraged to take pictures of all the exciting activities arranged for the family day, and upload them to a special instagram account. As long as it was “unique” or “creative” participants stood a chance of walking away with a fabulous prize from OSIM.
There was no lucky draw, but as the family day emcee, I let them know, there were 20 prizes up for grabs, as long as they submitted their pictures to instagram. Also, even if they didn’t win a prize, they were still doing a wonderful job in helping Julius Baer create a beautiful “Carnival On The Green” photo album.
THE MAIN STAGE with Family Day Emcee
Yes, a lot of families wanted to participate in the tree planting activities and do the Nature trail, but, there were still many people who wanted to enjoy the activities and fun games. That’s where my job really kicked in my role as an emcee.
I had a lot of opportunity to play many stage games for all age brackets. Julius Baer have staff from many different countries, and I must say, the children were very sporting, very well educated and we really had fun, happy and playful time together.
I was particularly impressed, because as a family day emcee, I always expect to be sweating profusely. However at the Julius Baer “Carnival On The Green”, the organisers had kindly provided lots of fans & air coolers for all of us, and it was extremely comfortable to be under the tentage. Even those who came and played the games on stage barely broke a sweat.
I must thank the organisers from Julius Baer, Tresor & Sharon, who really put a lot of thought and effort into making their “Carnival On The Green” a great family day to remember.
