Once in a while an amazing job comes along and as a corporate emcee it’s a privilege to be a part of such an incredible endeavour.
First of all, let me tell you as a corporate emcee, what the Ekofisk is.
Ekofisk is located in the southern part of the North Sea, 300 kilometers southwest of Stavanger, Norway.
SMOE will be responsible for engineering, procurement and construction of the 10,000 tonne accommodation facility that will be able to house 552 people. The project also includes two bridges, a bridge connector and a helideck. The platform will also feature a built-in centralised telecommunications centre and a control tower.
Ekofisk 2/4 L is the regional telecommunications hub, as well as the hub for coordination of all air and sea traffic in the area. There are office facilities, a cafeteria, recreational areas and a section for health personnel.
The helideck has two helicopter hangars with a capacity of 50 daily air movements. This is the most important helicopter landing area in the Greater Ekofisk Area.
The platform was installed during the summer of 2013 and is connected to the Ekofisk Complex by bridge.
It really was a remarkable feat of engineering, with SMOE doing many ‘firsts’ to make sure this project did Singapore proud.
Well, they did not let Singapore down.
A NIGHT TO CELEBRATE THE HARD WORK
I was the corporate emcee for this remarkable night, where celebrations were really in order for all those who made this incredible project become a reality.
There were many speeches & words of appreciation to all those involved, and entertainment was provided to make the night special. There was an LED dance performance, also a band for everyone’s enjoyment for the night.
However, for me, as a corporate emcee, the highlight of the night came when the bosses of SOME handed over an oil painting of the Ekofisk and also a model of the Ekofisk itself. Both were truly works of art.
Ivox were the event company, & Colin and his team did a remarkable job of making sure that the night was as memorable as the Ekofisk itself.
I really love to see what mankind can achieve when we work together, and I believe that the Ekofisk is a monumental achievement for all those involved in the project. It took years to finish, and I know there were many obstacles to be overcome, but SOME, you do Singapore proud when you produce such remarkable works of achievement.
As this night was the culmination of so much effort from so many people, I feel humbled and honoured to be your corporate emcee for such an important, incredible, auspicious night.
